Weight Management Clinic
We know that having a high Body Mass Index (BMI) negatively impacts on reproductive health. Being overweight may make it more difficult to conceive , which may be related to insulin resistance and PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome.

For those women who do conceive there is an increased risk of miscarriage, gestational diabetes, pre-eclampsia, and DVT. Congenital abnormalities are also more common in babies born to women who are obese.
Medical evidence now suggests that women with a high BMI plus one other risk factor for hypertensive disease, or those at risk of PET, should be prescribed aspirin 75mg/day.
Glucose Tolerance Testing should be performed at 28 weeks gestation in women with high BMI In pregnancy.
